The Superchips microtuner simply attaches to the vehicles diagnostic port. Programming with the microtuner gives you three selectable stages to choose from, raises the speed limitor, and as an added bonus contains a DTC reader. With this feature you will be able to obtain a convienent interpretation of your vehicles troubleshooting codes. The Diesel engine principle hasn't changed with the move to electronic controlled engines. Computerized controls allow for precise settings that are adjusted to improve engine efficiency. Higher turbo boost pressures result in more air to which is added a small percentage of fuel and controlled timing of the diesel injection. We also have cleaned up on the transmission shifting signals for firmer driving operation.

Performance chips recalibrate the Ford Powerstroke Engine Control Module to specific settings. This new program resets the amount of fuel, the time it is injected, and the amount of air that is required for the exact fuel to air ratio. Diesel engines respond to the amount of fuel injected, and the amount of air the turbochargers pump in to the intake. The turbo responds to the amount of back pressure in the exhaust. The lower the exhaust back pressures, the quicker the turbo response. You may discover that other performance chips cause your engine exhaust temperature to run hot. After installing a Superchip and our 4" complete exhaust system, the temperature will drop and your engine will perform with ease.
